Making Beeswax Candle Tips – Candles with the Kids

Making Beeswax Candles Tips - Items that You Do Need
- 8 inch by 16 inch sheets of beeswax
- Primed wick sliced for a one inch candle
- A small paring knife from your kitchen
- Flat open surface
- Lay out your sheet of beeswax
- Slice wick approximately 3/4 inches longer than wax sheet (allowing excess on both sides of candle)
Leaving available wick at each ends allows you the choice to decide which side of the candle you prefer as the top and which side the bottom.
Lay wick on edge of sheet and begin to start rolling beeswax by folding over 1/8 inch of wax. You can ensure that the wick would be properly enclosed by the seam.While rolling the wax forward and having it circle the wick tightly with your finger tips, remember to push it from one side to another. This is arguably the hardest part in the entire process of beeswax candlemaking.
Another option would be flipping the wax then folding it down to form a seam—about 1/8 inches—with a counter corner or perhaps a cutting board. Either or – just make sure you obtain a perfect seam in the process.
Candle thickness is something you need to consider when you’re making your candle. To increase the candle’s thickness, use more beeswax. Do this by placing the additional wax sheet edge to edge with the original, melding the pieces together with your thumb. When rolling the beeswax, make sure you do so in a straight line and continue until the very end.
When you get to the end, gently push the edges of the beeswax down with your thumbs.As you continue working on other parts of the candle, imagine making a seam as you go.
Determine which part would work well as top for your candle then slash half an inch off the wick above the beeswax. Do not forget to start from the bottom as you remove the rest of the wick.
Your kids might not appreciate the finer parts of this project but you would. So go ahead, ceremoniously light your glorious achievement, inhale the exotic perfume and enjoy this splendid moment! And as for the kids? And there it is — candles that your kids made by themselves!
